2009 National Print Awards AIPP

The National Print Awards were held in Sydney this year and
as much as I would have liked to attend I had more than
enough to keep me at home.
And so I gently packed up my four entries and sent them off
to Sydney where they would be judged by the best photographers
this country has to offer..

And so I'm proud to announce the entrants and their scores ...

Nicole & Chris - entered into the Wedding Photojournalism Category

Silver Award

Michael & Sam - entered into the Wedding Open Category

Silver Award

Lucinda & Stephen
entered into the Wedding Photojournalism Category
Just missed out on an award ! But I know Lucinda & Steve have already given this a Gold !
I Love it too guys !

Wendy & Scott - entered into the Wedding Photojournalism Category

Silver Award

So what does this mean I hear you ask ?? Well it means that I
now have my Associate Membership with the AIPP.
The next step will be getting my Masters ..

Holidays - well sort of ..

It's the quiet season for weddings at the moment and I've
actually managed a few free weekends !
So it's been great to head away with the family and even photograph my own kids.
McKenzie who's almost 8 and Dominic who's almost 4.
This pic below of McKenzie, Dom wasn't all that interested and had his cranky pants on ..

We also played tourists and went for a nice drive up to Tamborine Mountain.
We took the kids on the Sky Walk and walked around Gallery Walk,
bought some yummy fudge and watched the hangliders take off !
Now I had left my camera at home on purpose wanting to enjoy a
weekend without shooting, and for the most part I was happy
letting my wife (who also shoots) take
all the photos of the kids etc ..

I did however steal her 5D away for just a minute when the temptation became
too much for me, I managed to shoot this shot below while visiting curtis falls.
Anyone that knows ANYTHING about photography knows that to really shoot waterfalls you have to have at least a tripod, a cable release & decent light, I of course had none of these things.
But I was reasonably happy with the result. Not the most perfect shot I've taken, hand held at about half a second (holding really really still).

Rebecca & Phil - Magnificent Maleny

Rebecca & Phil had a beautiful ceremony at Laurels of Maleny,
shared with friends and family.
After the Ceremony we headed out to some local spots to have a bit of fun and capture
some beautiful images of Rebecca & Phil & their bridal party.
Then we headed back to Laurels for the reception where we also presented a
slide show which was just beutiful.
These images in the slideshow below are just a few that we showed on the night.

Lucinda & Stephen May 16th

Lucinda & Stephen were married at St Ignatious Church at Toowong surrounded by family and friends. Father Peter was on duty and I can tell you this guy is an absolute blast, he had the whole congregation in stiches !

Our day had started off in the morning with the boys at home.
Before heading over to see the girls at Jamboree Heights ..

Our afternoon of laughter & the odd drink had to finish as the light started to fade, so it was back to the reception where we finished off our day and left Cindy & Stephen to party on.
Congratulaions on a beautiful day guys and I wish you both well on your new journey together.

I started my day over at the boys at Arana Hills where Charles was thinking about the big day ahead of him. His groomsmen were on hand to help with getting ready, although if remember correctly Charles tied all of their ties for them !

After grabbing a few shots of the boys we headed over to see Larissa & the girls.

Larissa & Charles were married at Queen of Apostles Church at Stafford in a beautiful service that was shared with family & friends.

Once we'd finished our Bridal party shots we headed back to The South BankRiver Room
where Larissa & Charles rejoined theirs guests to party the night away !
Congratulations on a beautiful day guys ..
